ON DECEMBER 23, 2021, TRAFUCO NV WAS ACQUIRED BY ALTREA LOGISTICS.

Trafuco NV will continue to pursue its own course as an independent entity.
This is undoubtedly the most spectacular acquisition of the year in Belgium : Marc Van den Broeck and Down2Earth have transferred their shares in Trafuco to the Limburg-based group Altrea Logistics. Following the acquisition, Trafuco will retain its brand name and identity. The company – where full management will remain in charge – will operate independently as a full-fledged entity.

“To be future-proof, scale is needed. By joining a larger group, we ensure the continuity of Trafuco and perpetuate growth opportunities. We are proud that a growing family-owned company like Altrea Logistics approached us. The family character of that group and its Flemish roots were important factors in our choice: we share the same culture focused on flexible and efficient customer service,” says Marc Van den Broeck.

Trafuco specializes in transportation of liquids by tanker, distribution of packaged ADR products (hazardous goods) and delivery of lubricating oil to ocean-going vessels. Altrea Logistics was already active in the transport of bulk chemicals, but Trafuco’s specialties will form a new business area. For Roel Smets, managing director of Altrea Logistics, the complementarity of the activities is an important asset. “By including Trafuco in the group, we are expanding the range of services within our bulk division. For example, we can now offer Haesaerts’ customers short- and medium-distance road transport in addition to long-distance intermodal transport. We also expect to develop synergies with the other companies within the Altrea Group, for example in the segment of ADR waste transport and ADR distribution for the chemical industry. This will also be a win-win for the customer,” he states.
